First day

Today we took the bus from Tel Aviv to the youth village in Meir Shfeya where the Big Idea camp is held. It was our first day of staff orientation which mostly consisted of us all getting to know each other.

All of the camps I've been to before (and Birthright) were very clicky, so I was worried that the camp counselors would form clicks and it wouldn't be good. I will admit, the fluent Hebrew speakers tend to speak Hebrew and forget that other people aren't fluent, but they usually catch themselves or one of us yells at them to speak "Anglit, bevachasha!" (English, please!).

I've made a lot of friends already which is pretty rare for me as I am an introvert. But it's good and I'm glad that I've been able to connect with other counselors.

Staff orientation is this whole week and it will consist of workshop preparation, getting to know one another better, learning games and other camp traditions, setting up the camp, and just learning how to work together as a group.

I'm hoping that the rest of camp is just as good as today and that it just gets better when the campers arrive on Sunday.

If y'all wanna see what's going on, "Like" the Big Idea page on Facebook. They'll be posting pictures and videos on there throughout staff orientation and camp.
